According to China News Service, Hong Kong on May 18, the "Belt and Road" Summit Forum hosted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government opened in Hong Kong on the morning of the same day. In his opening speech, the "Belt and Road" brought unprecedented opportunities to Hong Kong, and Hong Kong can play the role of a "super contact person" and complement the needs of economies along the "Belt and Road".
Leung Chun-ying stressed that the "Belt and Road" initiative brings unprecedented opportunities to all countries and regions, and Hong Kong is no exception. Hong Kong has the dual advantages of "one country" and "two systems" and is a "super contact" between mainland China and countries around the world.
Leung Chun-ying said that in terms of finance, investment, professional services, trade, logistics, culture, creativity, innovation and technology, Hong Kong can play a unique role as a "super contact person" to complement the needs of economies along the "Belt and Road". The National "13th Five-Year Plan" Outline clearly states that we should give full play to the unique advantages of Hong Kong and Macao, enhance the status and function of Hong Kong and Macao in national economic development and opening up to the outside world, and support Hong Kong and Macao to participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road".
Leung Chun-ying introduced that the Hong Kong SAR government is establishing a dedicated "Belt and Road" office to promote relevant work plans.
