Why do we have to leave?

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal of the "Belt and Road" initiative. my country will hold the third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum in October. China's new trends in opening up and cooperation have attracted worldwide attention.

Sichuan is located at the intersection of the onshore Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. In recent years, our province has taken the "Belt and Road" initiative as a comprehensive guide and strived to build a new highland of inland opening up. It has established economic and trade relations with more than 220 countries (regions). About one-third of the province's foreign trade, four-five foreign contracting projects, and two-five foreign investment layouts are in countries along the "Belt and Road". The "Belt and Road" has become a powerful engine for Sichuan's economic and social development.

Last month, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized during his inspection tour in Sichuan that it is necessary to build a strategic highland for opening up to the west and a new base for participating in international competition, and to become an important growth pole and new source of power to drive high-quality development in the west as soon as possible. The Second Plenary Session of the 12th Provincial Party Committee also clearly proposed to build a new high ground for reform and opening up, expand high-level opening up, actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and deepen open cooperation in all aspects. Against this new era, Sichuan Daily All Media and Sichuan International Communication Center grandly launched the global research tour "The Silk Road Flowers Are Blooming", which is a special tribute to the tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road" and is also the responsibility of the Party media to implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee.

How will we go?

The global research and development ceremony of the "Silk Road Flowers Are Blooming" was held at Chengdu International Railway Port, the departure point of the China-Europe Express. It is also one of the starting points for Sichuan to fully integrate into the "Belt and Road". From here, the global research tour of "The Silk Road Flowers Are Blooming" will enter 11 countries along the "Belt and Road". It will be led by three chief reporters and a senior reporter to form four interview groups in Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania to explore the flowers blooming on the Silk Road.

Look at the results. We will go deep into Sichuan’s representative projects and important achievements along the Belt and Road, visit Sichuan enterprises and Sichuan goods, focus on the results of cooperation, and present the fruitful results of Sichuan’s active integration into the construction of the Belt and Road and comprehensive opening up to the outside world.

Find changes. In the past ten years since the Silk Road flowers bloom, "Built in Sichuan" and "Made in Sichuan" are blooming on the Silk Road. What are the stories behind it? What magnificent waves have the development road gone through? We will talk to key projects, local government officials and entrepreneurs to open up more wisdom for Sichuan to deeply integrate into the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Explore the prospects. The second decade of the "Belt and Road" initiative is coming soon. How can we set out again from a new starting point? We will visit the world with questions, seek advice and suggestions, and provide experience references to help straighten the question mark.

This global research is the first time that Sichuan Daily All Media and Sichuan International Communication Center jointly conducted a major interview report.
