In the first five months of this year, the total value of import and export of goods in Jiangsu Province reached 2.33 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%, an increase of 2.8 percentage points higher than the national average, accounting for 13% of my country's total import and export value during the same period. These data show the strong resilience and vitality of Jiangsu's foreign trade, and also inject strong impetus into the stable progress of China's economy.

The steady growth of Jiangsu's foreign trade is the result of the combined effect of industrial advantages and innovation-driven development. As a major manufacturing province, we have a complete industrial system and strong manufacturing capabilities. From high-end equipment manufacturing to electronic information industry, from new energy vehicles to biomedicine, industrial advantages have strong competitiveness in the global market. At the same time, we actively promote industrial upgrading and innovative development, increase investment in scientific and technological research and development, and cultivate a group of enterprises with independent intellectual property rights and core competitiveness. Through technological innovation and product upgrades, these companies have continuously expanded the international market, providing solid support for the growth of Jiangsu's foreign trade.

The rapid growth of exports demonstrates the quality and strength of Jiangsu's manufacturing. In the first five months, Jiangsu exported 1.55 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.6%. Behind this is the company's persistent pursuit of quality and its keen insight into the market. Jiangsu enterprises actively responded to the national "Belt and Road" initiative, strengthened economic and trade cooperation with countries and regions along the route, and expanded overseas market space. At the same time, the company also pays attention to brand building and marketing, and has increased the popularity and reputation of Jiangsu manufacturing by participating in international exhibitions and conducting cross-border e-commerce. From tax cuts and fee reductions to optimizing the business environment, from strengthening financial support to promoting trade innovation, the government's various policies and measures have reduced the burden on enterprises and enhanced confidence. At the same time, relevant departments also actively organize enterprises to participate in various exhibitions and economic and trade activities, building a platform for enterprises to expand the international market.

Jiangsu's foreign trade has achieved such outstanding results without the strong support of a series of policies. We have implemented large-scale tax and fee reduction measures to reduce the burden on foreign trade enterprises; reduced the value-added tax rate, social security rate, etc. of enterprises, so that enterprises can invest more funds in R&D and production, and enhanced the development potential of enterprises; we continue to optimize the port business environment, deepen the "deregulation, supervision and service" reform, simplify the customs clearance process, and improve customs clearance efficiency. Promote the construction of a "single window" and realize the electronicization of the entire port customs clearance process, allowing more data to run and less errands for enterprises.

Of course, we must also see that the uncertainty of the global economic situation, the rise of trade protectionism, and the competition in emerging markets have brought certain pressure to the development of Jiangsu's foreign trade. But at the same time, with the continuous and stable development of my country's economy, the in-depth promotion of the "Belt and Road" initiative, and the continuous expansion of the domestic market, Jiangsu's foreign trade has also ushered in new development opportunities. We must seize these opportunities, give full play to our own advantages, further optimize the foreign trade structure, and improve the quality and efficiency of foreign trade.

Jiangsu's outstanding performance in the first five months of foreign trade is a vivid portrayal of high-quality economic development.
