Xinjiang Railway implements the "rail, road and railway" intermodal transport mode for the first time to transport electricity and coal

At 17:00 on August 28, a train loaded with 3,500 tons of coal drove out of Sangezhuang Station of Lanxin Railway to Kashgar Station, delivering electricity and coal to local enterprises, marking the first time that Xinjiang Railway implemented the "rail, road and railway" intermodal transport mode to transport electricity and coal.

The coal supply in the two main coal-producing areas of Zhundong and Jiangjunmiao in Xinjiang is relatively large. At the Zhundong and Jiangjunmiao stations, freight trains loaded with coal are transported to power plants in Aksu, Kashgar, Korla and other places every day through the Urumqi Railway, Lanxin Railway, and Southern Xinjiang Railway. Urumqi West Station has become a hub site for coal trains to pass through.

The project adopts the multimodal transport method of "rail highway railway". After transporting coal from the Zhundong and Jiangjunmiao areas to Ganquanbao, Weijiaquan or Miquan stations by railway, the containers shipped from coal will be transported to Sangezhuang Station by car, and then loaded at the station to the Nanjiang Power Plant. The transportation method is flexible.

Since the beginning of this year, the volume of railway freight transport in Xinjiang has exceeded 160 million tons, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year.
