According to Nanjing Customs data, from January to August, Jiangsu's foreign trade imports and exports increased by 5.1% year-on-year, setting a record high in the same period. According to Nanjing Customs statistics, in the first eight months of this year, Jiangsu's total foreign trade import and export value reached 3.82 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%, 1.6 percentage points higher than the national average, accounting for 12.9% of the national total import and export value during the same period. Among them, exports were 2.55 trillion yuan, an increase of 9%. Foreign trade shows a significant trend of diversification, high technology and green and low carbonization.
Data shows that in the first eight months, Jiangsu's imports and exports to countries with jointly building the "Belt and Road" were 1.91 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.3%, driving the province's import and export growth rate by 4.9 percentage points, accounting for 2.4 percentage points to 49.9% compared with the same period last year. Among them, imports and exports to ASEAN were 694.07 billion yuan, an increase of 22.4%. During the same period, imports and exports to the EU were 543.6 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%. The diversified layout of trading partners has effectively enhanced Jiangsu's foreign trade's ability to resist risks and also provided important support for the stability of the global industrial chain.
In terms of export product structure, in the first eight months, Jiangsu's mechanical and electrical products exported 1.77 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.6%, driving the province's export growth by 7.2 percentage points, accounting for 69.3% of the province's total export value. Among them, ship exports were 89.1 billion yuan, an increase of 28.6%; exports of "new three" products represented by electric vehicles, lithium batteries and photovoltaic products were 121.45 billion yuan, an increase of 10.6%, becoming an important engine to promote the high-quality development of foreign trade. Data shows that Jiangsu's foreign trade is accelerating its progress towards high-technology and green and low-carbonization, which is highly consistent with the international market's demand for high-end manufacturing and sustainable development.
