Chen Zhenlin warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegation to China. He said that China and Vietnam are socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers. They often face disaster weather challenges such as typhoons and heavy rains, and have a solid foundation for cooperation in the field of meteorology. In April this year, China and Vietnam issued the "Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on Continuously Deepening Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership and Accelerating the Building of a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future", further pointing out the direction for the two sides to deepen meteorological cooperation. China has long attached great importance to China-Vietnam meteorological and hydrological cooperation, and is willing to continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Vietnam in disaster prevention and mitigation, new technologies such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and meteorological data exchange. We sincerely welcome Vietnamese experts to participate in the "Belt and Road" meteorological visiting scholar project and other meteorological visiting scholars project to visit and exchange, work together to improve regional meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities, and contribute greater strength to responding to global climate change.

Nguyen Shangxian said that in the context of increasingly severe climate change and frequent occurrence of extreme weather and climate events, strengthening cooperation in the field of meteorological and hydrology in China and Vietnam is of great significance to the sharing of information, experience, data and technology between the two sides. Since the 13th meeting of the Joint Working Group, the two sides have achieved remarkable results in cooperation in meteorological information sharing, meteorological observation data exchange, early warning of multiple disasters, and regional climate and forecasting in Asia. At the same time, the two sides play an active and important role in the activities of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Second Regional (Asian) Association. We look forward to the two sides strengthening connectivity, enhancing exchanges and cooperation, and working together to make more contributions in regional disaster prevention and reduction, safeguarding people's lives and promoting sustainable economic and social development.

The two sides reviewed the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects since the thirteenth meeting of the Joint Working Group and agreed on the next cooperation plan.

According to the minutes of the talks, in the future, the two sides will further deepen cooperation in disaster weather forecasting, meteorological information sharing, meteorological education and training, meteorological observation equipment, climate forecasting research, etc. on the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results, and promote bilateral high-level mutual visits and exchange of technical experiences.
