Recently, a small country has made a big move. Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan came to China for a few days and did three major events: he signed strategic cooperation with China, established diplomatic relations with Pakistan, the "mortal enemy", and reconciled with Russia. If this were the past, everything would have been a huge matter, but now it has been solved together.

This matter is quite unfamiliar. Armenia and Pakistan were in a big turmoil because of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, and the two countries had no relationship. But at the SCO Tianjin Summit, the two sides suddenly announced the establishment of diplomatic relations. What’s even more surprising is that although Russia is the traditional backer of Armenia, the two countries have had an unhappy quarrel due to some frictions, so they even sat down to talk.

Why is Armenia so arrogant? The key is the confidence given by China. At the end of August, China and Armenia officially upgraded their bilateral relations to strategic partners. This is not a short check. The two countries should cooperate to carry out practical projects such as infrastructure, agriculture, and mineral development under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Armenia is a landlocked country. It has been trapped by geopolitical conflicts for so many years, and now it has finally found a reliable way out for development.

Why did Pakistan let go at this time? It depends on the SCO platform. The organization led by China is not as vulgar as the West, and has done a lot of real things. For example, regular anti-terrorism exercises, judicial training bases are held, and 30 billion yuan loan support is also provided for member states. Pakistan may feel that it is more secure to be with this big family, and it is boring to fight with Armenia.

India and Iran can't sit still. India has secretly given Armenia money and weapons over the years, hoping to restrain Pakistan by supporting it. Now Armenia and Pakistan are shaking hands directly, and India's abacus is completely lost. Iran was even more depressed. He had originally expected Armenia to break international sanctions by land corridors. As a result, the "intermediate corridor" plan that Armenia participated in was to connect with the Belt and Road Initiative, and Iran's geographical advantages were diluted.

Although Russia has talked with Armenia, Armenia's attitude has become obviously tough. Why? Because they now have China's support and no longer rely entirely on Russia as before. The example of Ukraine is there. Armenia does not want to repeat the same mistakes, but does not want to offend Russia completely, so it exchanges for negotiation chips with good relations with China.

After the whole incident, Armenia seemed to be cheating. They did not form cliques or engage in ideological confrontation, but adjusted their diplomacy based on actual interests. China's proposals do not use routines. The visible benefits of infrastructure and technical cooperation have allowed small countries like Armenia to see room for development.

After all, this incident reflects a trend. In the past, there was no more and more no one paid for the black or white camp confrontation. More countries have begun to find ways themselves and use multilateral platforms to resolve conflicts. Armenia's operation may become a reference template for small countries to protect themselves in the future.
