Strengthen exchanges and promote common development
Lee Hee-seok, Secretary-General of the China-Japan-South Korea Cooperation Secretariat
The ASEAN-China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) cooperation framework has long been a successful example of regional multilateral cooperation, making significant contributions to economic growth, stability and prosperity. From promoting financial cooperation and enhancing supply chain resilience to promoting sustainable development and enhancing communication between people, the 10 3 cooperation mechanism provides an important impetus for participating countries to maintain relentless dialogue and cooperation in the face of complex challenges. The trilateral cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea was born in 1999 during the ASEAN-China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) Leaders' Meeting, and has since provided continuous impetus for the development of 10 3 cooperation. The coordination process of trilateral cooperation complements 10 3 cooperation.
Since its establishment in 2011, the China-Japan-South Korea Cooperation Secretariat has actively promoted cooperation with ASEAN countries, participated in the ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) Leaders' Meeting, invited ASEAN countries to share their views with their partners from China, Japan and South Korea, and welcomed ASEAN students to participate in regional exchanges. These efforts aim to enhance mutual understanding, deepen ties, and promote common development in the region and even globally.
The media is not only an observer and recorder, but also an active promoter of regional cooperation. By accurately reporting, telling cooperative stories well, and amplifying the voice of understanding, media in 10 3 countries can bridge the cognitive gap and promote mutual trust.
The China-Japan-South Korea Cooperation Secretariat regards media exchanges and cooperation as key tasks. We will continue to work closely with our media partners to build a bridge to enhance understanding among the people of the 10 3 countries.

Cohesively cope with AI challenges
ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Nalaria
The theme of "Interconnection, joint construction and sharing" appropriately highlights the important role played by the media in promoting dialogue, enhancing understanding and strengthening exchanges.
AI (artificial intelligence) has great potential for development and also brings serious challenges. In 2024, ASEAN released the "ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Governance and Ethics Guide" and added a generative artificial intelligence supplement framework in 2025 to form the "ASEAN Responsible Artificial Intelligence Roadmap (2025-2030)".
We must give full play to the coordinated role of ASEAN to ensure the safe and healthy development of artificial intelligence in the region.
Deepen regional cooperation and strengthen media integrity construction and artificial intelligence governance. ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea (10 3) partners should promote interoperability standards for content verification and transparency in algorithmic decision-making, and build a cross-border fact verification network. The prerequisite for cooperation is to respect the national conditions of all countries and to cooperate when false information threatens regional stability and public health.
Strengthen capacity building and media literacy building. Training for media practitioners should be strengthened in the use of artificial intelligence tools, ethical reporting and platform governance. The week-long media workshop after the forum is a great time to translate conversations into skills, joint projects and enduring partnerships.
The consensus spirit, respect for diversity and benign cooperation and interactions upheld by ASEAN have laid a solid foundation for enhancing media credibility and enhancing social cohesion.

Practical cooperation to achieve common construction and win-win results
Van Sai Tawenyan, Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Editor-in-Chief of Lao People's Daily
This meeting is a meeting of great significance to the cooperation between ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea media, aiming to enhance mutual understanding, strengthen cooperation, promote media work to a higher level, and realize common interests.
Over the years, Lao media has always adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, abide by the purposes of the UN Charter, and supported all peace-loving countries. Lao media reports have always been based on facts, focusing on economic and social development achievements, as well as the modernization process of ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea.
For a long time, Lao media has maintained close cooperation with ASEAN countries and China, Japan and South Korea, especially in improving professional capabilities, exchange of experience and equipment assistance. These cooperations have injected vitality into the Lao media, allowing us to perform our duties more efficiently and continuously consolidate our cooperative relations with countries.
In recent years, countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and South Korea have invested in Laos on a large scale to promote the continuous development of Laos in the exchange of technology and knowledge. Especially after the completion of the China-Laos Railway Project, Laos' tourism industry has ushered in significant growth. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, there were 1.2 million international tourists entering Laos.
We will continue to support all countries in strengthening connectivity, promoting mutual construction and win-win results, and promoting ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea cooperation towards a more brilliant future.

Work together to reshape the public opinion landscape
An Xiaoyu, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of CGTN and Director of Asia and Africa Center, China Radio and Television
Since the establishment of the ASEAN cooperation mechanism between China, Japan and South Korea (10 3), it has adhered to the Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness and inclusiveness and continued to promote the process of economic integration. In this process, media cooperation effectively helps East Asia become the most dynamic region in the world.
China Central Radio and Television Corporation has worked with media from various countries in the region to strengthen close cooperation. In April this year, during President Xi Jinping's state visit to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia, the "Pretty "Speech" - Allusion that Xi Jinping likes" produced by the Central Station was broadcasted in mainstream media in Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and other countries, arousing warm response. Programs such as "Xi Jinping's Cultural Love" and "The Paper China" were broadcast locally at the same time, opening a window of thought for Southeast Asian people to understand Chinese civilization and Chinese-style modernization. It has jointly launched a number of TV programs with mainstream media in ASEAN and Japan and South Korea, and launched activities that connect the people's hearts and down-to-earth in many regions and countries.
Since 2024, the Taiwan Taiwan has signed 23 cooperation documents with Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and other countries, covering content exchange, joint production, cultural exchange, and personnel visits.
We are willing to work with colleagues from all countries to meet new challenges, promote the construction of a more just, peaceful and reasonable international public opinion pattern, and jointly convey the voice of justice that is counter-dominant, fair and righteous.

Gain consensus and strengthen interconnection
Pan Wenxiong, deputy editor-in-chief of Vietnam People's Daily
The world today is undergoing profound and complex changes. Peace, development and cooperation are still the mainstream, but it also faces traditional and non-traditional security threats such as economic, trade and technological competition, local wars, and climate change. Against this background, we need to strengthen the linkage between comprehensive connectivity and development to jointly respond to global and regional challenges.
The regional cooperation in East Asia has achieved remarkable results. Recently, China and the ten ASEAN countries have fully completed the 3.0 negotiations on the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone, marking a breakthrough in economic and trade relations in new areas such as digital economy, green economy, and supply chain. Committed to building comprehensive, modern and mutually beneficial agreements and deepening regional economic integration. China and Vietnam are strengthening the docking of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the "Two Corridors and One Circle" strategy, promoting China-Vietnam railway connectivity, promoting economic and trade cooperation, cultural and tourism exchanges and private exchanges.
To strengthen interconnection, we must not only focus on the "hardware" connection of infrastructure, but also on the "software" connection, including improving cognition, building consensus, and promoting mutual understanding among the people. The media shoulders an important mission in this process. Mainstream media in various countries should create a public opinion environment for cooperative development through accurate and objective information dissemination.
In recent years, Vietnam's People's Daily has actively promoted cooperation with authoritative global media and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the People's Daily to promote regional and global connectivity and development linkage. We are willing to work with media partners to build efficient "software infrastructure" for the region and the world, and promote connectivity and win-win cooperation.

Seize opportunities and promote mutual learning in civilization
Xinhua News Agency's Deputy Director of External Affairs Pei Jianrong
In Kunming, Yunnan, we exchange ideas and stimulate wisdom around "creating new momentum, sharing new opportunities, building consensus, and building East Asia with cultural connectivity", which is of particular significance.
China, Japan and South Korea have similar geographical features, blind dates, and cultural connections with ASEAN countries, and their interactions have a long history. At present, the century-old changes are accelerating, and the international situation is intermixed. In such an era, it is urgently necessary for Asian media to gather wisdom and strength to promote common development.
The friendship between a country lies in the people's relationship, and the relationship between a people lies in the mutual understanding of the heart. ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) cooperation at the national level has made important contributions to maintaining regional stability and promoting regional development. The media plays a bridge role in promoting people-to-people communication in ASEAN cooperation with China, Japan and South Korea, and plays an important and unique role.
We hope that Asian media colleagues will focus on improving their narrative level, show the achievements of Asian countries' development and construction with real, three-dimensional and diverse narratives, improve the independent communication system, and enhance the global influence of Asian voices. Actively embrace the wave of technological change, grasp the media revolution opportunities brought by the development and widespread application of generative artificial intelligence technology, expand exchanges and cooperation in the application of new media technologies, promote mainstream media in Asia and even the world to actively participate in the formulation of artificial intelligence rules, and guide the healthy development of technology to goodness. Deepen media dialogue and cultural exchanges, give full play to the role of existing media platforms, and show the results of civilized exchanges and mutual learning through pragmatic cooperation.

Leverage the media to promote peace and prosperity
Min Jue, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Myanmar Propaganda Department
The theme of this forum, "Interconnection, Co-construction and Sharing", fully reflects the common vision of countries in various regions to strengthen contacts and promote cooperation, especially in terms of economic, social and cultural development. This theme is very guiding.
The cooperation mechanism between ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) is a key engine of global economic growth and an important hub for technological innovation and cultural exchanges, but it also faces many challenges such as trade gaps, population aging and climate change.
The role of the media is crucial in addressing these challenges. The media is not only an important channel for information dissemination, but also an important bridge to promote public understanding and cooperation. In promoting regional cooperation, Myanmar media has always been committed to providing real and accurate information to promote social exchanges and cultural integration. Through the power of media, we can further deepen 10 3 cooperation, especially in digital technology, artificial intelligence and media modernization.
As President Xi Jinping said: "A flower blooms alone, it is not spring, but a hundred flowers bloom in the garden." This sentence profoundly explains the importance of diversity. Diversity is the essence of human social development and the basis of regional cooperation.
On behalf of the Federal Republic of Myanmar, I wish to reaffirm our commitment to strengthening 10 3 media cooperation. This cooperation will not only promote understanding and trust among us, but also promote peace and prosperity in the region.

Take positive actions to create a better future together
Yao Ying, Director of the Commentary Department of China Daily
At present, unilateralism and protectionist thoughts are spreading, and the global economy is full of uncertainty. As an important engine of global economic growth, Asia has always played a key role as a "stabilizer" and a "power source". Among them, the cooperation mechanism between ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) has been developed over the years and has become an important platform for promoting political security, economic coordination and social and cultural exchanges in East Asia, and is an indispensable force in regional cooperation.
We should continue to promote policy communication, facility connectivity, smooth trade, financial and social communication, and mutual understanding between the people, and jointly build an Asian community with a shared future and a community with a shared future for mankind.
Strengthening regional cooperation in Asia and deepening dialogue on civilization is not only related to regional peace, stability, prosperity and development, but also has far-reaching significance in promoting the transformation of the global governance system. As the main channel for information dissemination, the link for cultural exchanges and the promoter of consensus construction, the media should take the initiative to take responsibility and take positive actions, and become an important force in enhancing mutual understanding and promoting common development.
China Daily has always been committed to promoting regional cooperation and cultural exchanges in Asia. Through the Asia News Alliance, an important platform, we work closely with 20 mainstream media from 19 Asian countries to tell Asian stories together.
China Daily is willing to work together with colleagues from all countries to work together to realize the beautiful vision of building a "peaceful and tranquil, common prosperity, open and integrated Asia".

Build mutual trust and gather strength toward good
Surata Rakasaimu, Director of the Thai People's Liaison Office
Over the past 10 years, the cooperation mechanism between ASEAN and China-Japan-South Korea (10 3) has brought together ASEAN, China, Japan and South Korea, and has become the cornerstone of stability and prosperity in East Asia. The mechanism promotes dialogue among all parties, deepens economic ties, and builds a foundation of trust among countries. In this process, the media plays a strong linkage role to help people from all countries understand and recognize our common development vision.
The world is facing many complex challenges that cross national boundaries, and we must work together to deal with them. By promoting "Asian consciousness" and using "Oriental wisdom", we provide a new model for global cooperation. This wisdom is not just about inward examination, but also about using the common values of "harmony", "respect" and "long-term vision" that we uphold to build a better future for all mankind.
The interconnection of media not only means connecting news organizations or sharing content in various countries, but also building a close interpersonal network to enhance mutual understanding and trust. We must use our own platform to tell stories that unite people, demonstrate common goals, and prove to the world that our cooperation is a force for positive and good.
Human beings are a whole that shares weal and woe. Our prosperity is interrelated, our security benefits each other, and the challenges we face require more collective responses. As media, it is our responsibility to transform this vision into reality through specific stories.

Improve understanding and build friendly relations
Miyasuke, Director of the International Department of Japan's Kyoshima News Agency
Japan and China have a long history of exchanges. As of 2025, Japan-China relations have generally shown a relatively stable trend. Currently, a large number of Chinese tourists are visiting Japan to enjoy the fun of sightseeing and shopping. Japanese tourists have achieved visa-free travel to China, and it is expected that more Japanese people will enter China in the future.
As a Japanese proverb from China, "A hundred hearings are better than seeing", citizens of the two countries should further deepen direct exchanges among the people to enhance mutual understanding and build long-term and stable friendly relations.
As digital transformation continues to advance, paper media issuance is showing a downward trend, and a profit model that can be comparable to subscription fees has not yet been established. In the digital field, it is not easy for operators to make profits at this stage, and the popular content that the people are willing to pay for is not everywhere. Against this background, it is of great significance to Japan to accurately understand what is happening in China, and it is no exaggeration to call it "hot content".
Faced with the dual challenges of the transformation of the media industry and the growth of information exchange demand, media organizations in East Asia should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to achieve higher levels of interconnection and deeper mutual understanding. I look forward to media from all countries using interconnected digital technologies to exchange content, benefit mutually, and jointly build a win-win relationship.
