At the end of August, at the China (Zhengzhou)-Chile Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference attended by An Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee, Yutong signed cooperation agreements with a number of companies totaling more than 300 million yuan. In early September, 372 Yutong pure electric buses arrived in Chile, continuing to empower the green transformation of transportation in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

The Yutong-Chile cooperation project has come into full bloom, which is not only a strong demonstration of the quality and brand influence of Yutong's products, but also a vivid practice of "Intelligent Manufacturing in China" injecting strong momentum into the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

Chile, as the "top student" of Latin American economy, is an important target market in Yutong's internationalization strategy. Since it first entered Chile in 2005 and became the first new energy bus brand to open the door to Chile, Yutong has been deeply involved in Chile for 20 years.

With its precise insight into the green transformation needs of Chilean public transportation and its continuous technological innovation, Yutong has sold a total of 2,400 buses in Chile. Yutong buses can be seen in normal operation in many cities in Chile.

In 2017, Chile purchased the country's first pure electric bus, the Yutong E12. With its excellent endurance, comfortable ride experience and reliable operation stability, Yutong quickly gained high recognition from local passengers and operators. A year later, Chile repurchased 100 Yutong pure electric buses, officially kicking off the country's public transportation journey. The prelude to the electrification transformation of public transportation; after years of intensive cultivation and long-term high-intensity operation verification of products, Chile purchased 214 Yutong pure electric buses again in 2024. With excellent product performance and beautiful appearance, it has quickly become the core transportation capacity of the capital Santiago and the external image of green transportation.

In 2025, Chile will purchase an additional 372 Yutong pure electric buses. And in the near future, Yutong’s first overseas hydrogen-fueled bus will also enter Chile for the first time.

As the capital of Chile and the largest city in Chile, Santiago is home to one-third of the country's population. It has a large urban area and long transportation lines. Taking VOY, Santiago's largest pure electric bus operator served by Yutong, as an example, it needs to complete the transportation of more than 95 million passengers every year, and the annual vehicle mileage exceeds 52 million kilometers. This is undoubtedly a huge challenge to the operating efficiency, reliability and carrying capacity of new energy buses.

To this end, Yutong has equipped the vehicles with large-capacity batteries with ultra-long battery life. With only one charge, it can meet the operating needs of the bus vehicles for a day, greatly improving the operating efficiency of urban buses and effectively alleviating the pressure on transportation capacity. At the same time, Yutong also equipped its vehicles with a deeply customized Internet of Vehicles smart system based on the local operation conditions in Chile, which met local customers’ needs for bus operations and was highly recognized by customers. The relevant data and configuration even became an important reference for the introduction of local standards for pure electric vehicles.

The 372 Yutong pure electric buses delivered this time are all built on the YEA platform independently developed by Yutong. The core three-electric technology has achieved many firsts, and has achieved comprehensive improvements in energy efficiency, volume, weight, safety and other aspects.

Relying on a series of advantages brought by the direct service model, after the 372 Yutong pure electric buses arrived at the Port of San Antonio, Yutong quickly deployed senior service personnel from surrounding countries to support Chile and conducted cross-regional coordination, completing the transfer of the new buses in just two days.

It is reported that Yutong's pioneering "Battery Nitrogen Protection System" has effectively improved the battery safety of new energy buses and built an intelligent and efficient protective barrier for public safety; the main structure and durable parts of the vehicle can meet the full cycle use needs of the vehicle; the Internet of Vehicles Link can provide multi-dimensional data support and accurate decision-making for intelligent vehicle operation, promoting Chilean transportation from "human experience" to "technology-driven". The safe, efficient, smart and user-friendly configuration will better match San Diego’s operating environment and help it achieve efficient and stable green operations.

Data shows that so far, Yutong has entered more than 20 Latin American countries, delivered a total of more than 28,000 vehicles, and its overall market share exceeds 40%.
