The 2025 “Belt and Road” Media Cooperation Forum was held on September 16 in Kunming, Yunnan Province. More than 200 foreign representatives from 87 countries, international and regional organizations, 165 media and institutions attended the meeting.

Guests at the meeting believed that since President Xi Jinping proposed the major initiative of jointly building the “Belt and Road” in 2013, the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” has achieved fruitful results and has become a popular international public product and international cooperation platform. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping proposed a global governance initiative at the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization " conference, which contributed Chinese wisdom and provided Chinese solutions to building a more fair and reasonable global governance system. It also opened up new and greater development space for high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

Guests at the meeting said that media from various countries should further deepen cooperation, be good practitioners and promoters of the Silk Road spirit, and actively spread the civilizational concept of equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness; be good recorders and narrators of development results, continue to report in-depth on the vivid practice of jointly building the "Belt and Road", and widely gather positive energy for win-win cooperation; be good participants and promoters of mutual learning among civilizations, use high-quality news works to enhance understanding, break down barriers, and unite people's efforts to make the foundation of building a community with a shared future for mankind more solid.

This forum is co-sponsored by the People's Daily, the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. With the theme of "Sharing Media Responsibility to Promote Mutual Learning among Civilizations", the forum will include an opening ceremony, a main forum, a "Belt and Road" media cooperation dialogue and other sub-forums, the second International Communication "Silk Road Award" award, ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea (10 3) media cooperation seminar and other links. After the meeting, Chinese and foreign media guests participating in the forum will also conduct joint interviews in Yunnan and other provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

The “Belt and Road” Media Cooperation Forum has been successfully held for 9 times since its inception in 2014. More than 1,000 foreign media and representatives of international and regional organizations from more than 100 countries and regions were invited to participate in the forum to work together to promote the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road”.
