“Belt And Road” International Alliance Of Architecture Universities “Circle Of Friends” Expands Again

China News Service, Beijing, October 1 (Reporter Guo Chaokai) The reporter learned from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture on October 1 that the 2025 Conference and Forum of the “Belt and Road” International Alliance of Architecture Universities was recently held in Kazakhstan.

China News Service, Beijing, October 1 (Reporter Guo Chaokai) The reporter learned from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture on October 1 that the 2025 Conference and Forum of the “Belt and Road” International Alliance of Architecture Universities was recently held in Kazakhstan. More than 500 representatives from more than 40 universities and institutions in 10 countries gathered in Almaty to discuss technological innovation and international cooperation in the field of architecture.

The "circle of friends" of the "Belt and Road" International Alliance of Architecture Universities has expanded again. Since its establishment in October 2017 by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, after nine years of development, the number of alliance member units has exceeded 100. The meeting reviewed and approved 10 new alliance members. So far, the alliance members cover 33 countries and regions and 101 member units.

At the meeting, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstan International Education Group signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. This move marks that the three parties will establish a long-term and stable strategic cooperative relationship in scientific research, technology transformation and high-level talent training, and achieve complementary advantages and resource sharing.

The Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan branches of Luban Academy were officially unveiled during the meeting. The overseas branch will focus on the core needs of architectural cultural heritage protection, inheritance and innovation, digital green collaborative transformation and development, and local civil construction engineering talent cultivation, and create a comprehensive educational practice platform that integrates the inheritance of traditional skills, urban innovation and development, and the cultivation of international engineering talents to provide intellectual support for the in-depth cooperation between China, Kazakhstan and Ukraine in the fields of architecture and urban development.

Led by the Alliance, the "Global Architectural Heritage Digital Protection and Innovation Application Platform" jointly developed by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, China Silk Road Group Co., Ltd., Sri Lanka National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping and other member units was officially released. The platform will use cutting-edge digital technology to accurately record, research and innovatively apply cultural heritage from multiple countries. The establishment of the platform is a model of the deep integration of science and technology and humanities, and will effectively promote the permanent survival and activation of architectural heritage in various countries.
