The third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum was held in Beijing. President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum, announcing China's eight actions to support high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and drawing up a blueprint for future development of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to media cooperation along the Belt and Road Initiative. In his congratulatory letter to the 2016 Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum, President Xi Jinping emphasized: "The Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum provides a platform for media dialogue, exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between countries. It is hoped that media from various countries will make good use of this platform to be active in promoting the development of national relations, communicating with people and deepening understanding and mutual trust, and playing an active role in the construction of the 'Belt and Road' "In April 2019, President Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the first board meeting of the "Belt and Road" News Cooperation Alliance: "The 'Belt and Road' News Cooperation Alliance provides a convenient communication and cooperation platform for media from various countries. "In the past 10 years, the joint construction of national media has explored the establishment of a wide-area, multi-form, and normalized cooperation mechanism to promote the in-depth development of media exchanges and cooperation. Since 2014, the People's Daily has held 7 "Belt and Road" media cooperation forums. The first theme was "Silk Road Connectivity Dream, Media Promotes Development", the second, third and fourth themes were "New Pattern of Cooperation in a Community of Shared Destiny", the fifth theme was "Co-construction and Sharing, Cooperation and Win-win", the sixth theme was "Focus on Global Development and Deepen Interconnection", and the theme of this year is "Strengthening Media Cooperation to Create a Better Future". The 7th "Belt and Road" Media Cooperation Forum attracted more than 1,000 media, think tank and international organization representatives from more than 100 countries and regions to participate in the forum to build a high-end media dialogue and cooperation platform for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". The Belt and Road News Cooperation Alliance, which covers 238 media and institutions in 109 countries, has become an important media cooperation platform for countries building the Belt and Road Initiative.

Over the past 10 years, telling the story of the Belt and Road Initiative and promoting common development and prosperity have become the common responsibility of the media in the joint construction of the country. The media of various countries actively serve as recorders, participants, and promoters of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", laying a solid foundation for public opinion and creating a good atmosphere of public opinion for the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

Over the past 10 years, the People's Daily has devoted itself to telling the story of win-win cooperation between countries working together to build the "Belt and Road", launching a large number of in-depth reports, commentaries, theoretical articles and new media products to present the important results achieved in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". Since the beginning of this year, the People's Daily has organized interviews on the theme of "jointly building the 'Belt and Road'" and sent 10 interview teams to conduct joint interviews with mainstream media in the jointly building countries. They conducted in-depth interviews on major landmark projects of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". Through the integration of newspapers and networks and the all-media communication at home and abroad, the magnificent picture of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" was presented in a multi-dimensional and panoramic manner.

To promote high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", as a jointly built national media, we need to further strengthen content cooperation, improve the level of content cooperation, and comprehensively demonstrate the remarkable results of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road"; we need to further expand cooperation channels, make full use of the "Belt and Road" media cooperation forum, the "Belt and Road" News Cooperation Alliance and other platforms, continue to innovate methods and methods, and carry out in-depth joint interviews, personnel exchanges, information exchange, program co-production, technical collaboration, cooperative communication, and further improve the cooperation mechanism.

President Xi Jinping pointed out, “The joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has gone through its first ten years of vigorous development. It is now in its prime and we must forge ahead with high spirits towards the next golden decade!” We must take the 10th anniversary of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as a new starting point to inherit and carry forward the Silk Road Initiative. We must adhere to the spirit of the Silk Road, tell the story of the Silk Road well, cultivate Silk Road friendship, jointly promote the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road", build an open, inclusive, interconnected, and common development world, promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, demonstrate the media's responsibility, and contribute the media's strength.

Adhere to fairness and inclusiveness and strengthen exchanges and mutual learning

Recently, many journalists, scholars and government officials from many countries around the world gathered in Beijing to participate in the 2023 "Belt and Road" Media Cooperation Forum with the theme of "Strengthening Media Cooperation and Creating a Better Future". The forum has set up the international communication "Silk Road Awards" award ceremony and the "Belt and Road" regional cooperation sub-forum, which is undoubtedly a grand event.

In the 10 years since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, it has received response and support from many countries and regions around the world. People realize that the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative is in line with the aspirations and demands of different countries, which is to build a new type of international relations based on mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation.

The changes and prospects brought to the world by the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative have attracted the attention of politicians, scholars and journalists from various countries. In-depth analysis and commentary, detailed documentary images, and vivid photo reports reflect journalists' professional pursuit of advocating truth, being creative, and pursuing light. I believe that the vast majority of people in this hall today are representatives of such talented and responsible journalists.

Each of us walking on the bright road of jointly building the "Belt and Road" has a professional obligation to see and expose those who spread malicious remarks. These statements include "debt trap", "neo-colonialism" and so on. Obviously their implication is coercive diplomacy, but if you look closely, you will find that coercive diplomacy has nothing in common with the concept of building a just and inclusive world, and with the Belt and Road Initiative. Coercive diplomacy is essentially a manifestation of the old view of world order from the standpoint of national superiority.

In this regard, I would like to quote a speech delivered by President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China that I personally think is very important: "Differences are not terrible. What is terrible is arrogance, prejudice, and hatred. What is terrible is the desire to divide human civilization into three, six, and nine grades. What is terrible is imposing one's own history, culture, and social system on others. Countries should achieve peaceful coexistence on the basis of mutual respect and seeking common ground while reserving differences, promote exchanges and mutual learning, and inject impetus into the progress of human civilization."

The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative fully implements this vision. In many countries around the world, journalists seem to realize and feel this earlier than others.

On the 10th of this month, China's State Council Information Office released a white paper titled "Co-building the Belt and Road Initiative: A Major Practice in Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind." This white paper systematically elaborates on the implementation path of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the benefits that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought to the countries and regions since its implementation, as well as the expected future benefits.

The Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum is an international platform that plays an important role in promoting development, strengthening communication between people of various countries, and raising public attention to various issues. Media cooperation creates opportunities to promote the exchange of different ideas and the integration of cultures.

Emirates News Agency is committed to strengthening cooperation with different media organizations around the world, exchanging knowledge and experience, and learning and benefiting from the different successful experiences of all partner media. Currently, the Emirates News Agency has signed more than 120 agreements with news agencies, newspapers, television stations and radio stations around the world.
