Amir Tamam, deputy editor-in-chief of Egypt's "Izvestia", said in a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters in Cairo that China's long-term planning has long provided an important tool to deal with challenges and played an important role in promoting development in various fields.

2025 is the "final year" of China's "14th Five-Year Plan". Tamam believes that China's development focus has shifted to high-quality development, which has enhanced the reputation of China's export products, such as electric vehicles. He said that China focuses on economic growth, technological innovation, environmental protection and social welfare. These efforts have improved the living standards of the domestic people and also benefited the world, with many countries benefiting from them.

Tamam used keywords such as "diversity, innovation, and openness" to describe China's development characteristics in the past five years. He said that despite the challenges, China still maintains an economic growth rate of about 5%, demonstrating the forward-looking nature of its strategic planning and its own development resilience. "China contributes about 30% to global economic growth. In a world full of uncertainties, China has become the cornerstone of stability."

Tamam said that China has successively proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. These initiatives have been integrated into China's long-term planning and aim to achieve common development with other countries.

He said that the countries co-constructed by the "Belt and Road" initiative have obtained tangible benefits in the fields of infrastructure construction, trade and investment. Egypt is a model of mutually beneficial cooperation with China on green economy and infrastructure-related projects.

Tamam expects that in the next five years, China will continue to prioritize technological innovation, artificial intelligence, digital economy and combating climate change.

"China's development comes from the people and serves the people." Tamam said that China has transformed human capital into a growth driver and has become an inspiring example. He believes that the common characteristics and political consensus among countries in the Global South make it easier for developing countries to learn from China's experience.
