The documentary "The Belt and Road Return to Xuanzang Road" is directed and starred by Liu Xiaolingtong (real name Zhang Jinlai), the actor of "Sun Wukong" in the 1986 version of "Journey to the West".

The documentary "The Belt and Road Retraces Xuanzang Road" was planned in August 2016 and went to Xi'an, Shaanxi, Guazhou, Gansu, India and other places to survey the landscape in November. A Sino-Indian seminar was held in Beijing in March 2017, a filming launch ceremony was held in Xi'an in April, and a start-up ceremony was held in Guazhou County on October 15.

Guazhou is a brilliant pearl on the Silk Road, with a long history, splendid culture, and many cultural relics and historical sites. Since ancient times, it has been a transportation hub for eastward and westward, a major merchant town on the ancient Silk Road, and a must-pass place for Buddhism to spread eastward. As early as more than 1,300 years ago, Master Xuanzang, with the dream of saving all living beings, sacrificed himself to seek the Dharma, passed through Guazhou, and experienced the training of a lifetime of death.

Guazhou County preserves the temples where Xuanzang preached the scriptures on the way to obtain the scriptures, the city where the officials allowed the prefectures to be allowed to be held, the place where the disciples and horses were collected, the place where the Hulu River crossed the night, the remains of the five beacons outside Yumen Pass, and the ruins of the Moheyanchi Ancient Road. There are also six pictures of Xuanzang's journey to the West preserved in Yulin Cave and Dongqian Buddha Cave. More than 300 years ago, Wu Cheng'en's novel Journey to the West was written. 16 cultural relics related to Xuanzang in the county constitute the profound and profound Guazhou Xuanzang culture.

Zhang Jinlai said that this year marks the 1390th anniversary of Master Xuanzang's journey to the west to obtain the scriptures. Guazhou has done a lot of work in the excavation and inheritance of Xuanzang's spirit, built the largest Xuanzang special museum in China, and successively carried out the Xuanzang Road Gobi Challenge, the Xuanzang Spirit International Seminar, etc. Through a series of activities, Guazhou has become a holy place for studying Xuanzang culture and promoting Xuanzang's spirit.
