In the era of digital intelligence, what are colleges and universities? On June 12, the "Belt and Road" University Science and Technology Cooperation Alliance Presidents' Roundtable Meeting was held in Chengdu. Presidents of universities from Hungary University of Debrecen and University of Brunei, as well as presidents of universities in China such as Harbin Institute of Technology and Chongqing University gathered together to discuss, build and share.

The conference was themed "College-domain AI Cooperation: Co-building a Belt and Road Initiative's new ecology of college education, science and technology, and talent", gathering the wisdom and resources of colleges and universities, breaking down barriers between disciplines, regions and countries, and in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, jointly explore and innovate education models, improve scientific research level, and cultivate high-quality talents who meet the needs of future development.

At the meeting, the "Belt and Road" University Science and Technology Cooperation Alliance Exchange and Cooperation Plan was officially released, with 5 million yuan per year to carry out in-depth cooperation around the major needs of sustainable development in the countries where the alliance member universities are located.

This conference is an important event of the roundtable meeting among the five major sections of the Second Belt and Road Science and Technology Exchange Conference. It is co-organized by Chongqing University and Sichuan University and hosted by the Secretariat of the "Belt and Road" University Science and Technology Cooperation Alliance.

It is reported that since its establishment, the alliance has focused on 9 key areas: big data and sustainable development, water/clean water and sanitation, economical and applicable, renewable and green energy, sustainable agriculture and smart agriculture, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, industries, innovation and infrastructure, climate change and earth health, digital transformation of education, and promoting joint scientific research, high-level academic exchanges, and innovative talent training, and becoming an important force in promoting the interconnection of higher education and coordinated development of scientific and technological innovation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" countries.
