On October 18, 2023, the third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum opened in Beijing. The forum pointed out that through the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", China's door to opening up has become wider and wider, and the inland areas have changed from "rear" to "forward".

Chongqing is located in the west, at the link between the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. At the third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum that just concluded, China announced eight actions to support the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", among which "accelerating the high-quality development of China-Europe Express" was proposed as the first article. As a flagship project and iconic brand for jointly building the "Belt and Road", the China-Europe Express has received wide praise and active participation from the international community since its launch and has become a popular international public product.

——Expand channels and promote production and trade

Chongqing-Xinjiang Europe, as China's first China-Europe freight train, supported by the "Belt and Road" initiative, Chongqing Logistics Group has successfully opened up and stably operated the four-way China-Europe freight train channels from Chongqing, taking the lead in realizing efficient interconnection between ASEAN-China·Chongqing-Central Asia/Europe, and established an international multimodal transport corridor centered on Chongqing and with railway channels as the main form, closely connecting China with European and Southeast Asian markets.

Relying on the China-Europe Express (Yuxin and New Europe), Chongqing has successively been approved to establish a vehicle import port, Chongqing Railway Bonded Logistics Center (Type B), the port function of the first imported drug and biological products, designated supervision site for imported meat, cross-border export e-commerce, and international postal transportation functions, etc., to achieve the transformation from a "channel economy" to a "industrial economy". The status of an inland international portal hub has been continuously highlighted, and the status of the "vanguard" of inland opening has also been continuously consolidated.

At the same time, Chongqing's outward-oriented economy continues to improve. Up to now, the China-Europe Express (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) has driven Chongqing's foreign trade import and export volume by nearly 800 billion yuan, leveraging the development and growth of two trillion-level industrial clusters of automobiles and electronic information, and promoting the implementation and development of international mail transportation, milk powder and drug imports. Nearly 4,000 related enterprises have been gathered around the railway port.

From one train to one train per month to more than 10 trains per day, from a single IT product to tens of thousands of cargo, from one-way outbound route to multi-point diffusion of "southeast and northwest" and the Eurasian two-way interconnection international railway transport channel network system, the China-Europe Express (Chongqing, Xin, Europe) supports economic development with high-quality cross-border railway logistics.

After years of development, the China-Europe Express (Yuxin and Europe) has transported more than 1.25 million standard boxes of goods, with a cargo weight of nearly 13 million tons, and a cumulative value of more than 500 billion yuan, of which the value of laptop products exceeds 180 billion yuan, and the value of automobiles and spare parts exceeds 60 billion yuan.

Today, the China-Europe Express (Yuxin and Europe) has become one of the most transported trains in the country with the highest freight value, the widest radiation range, the strongest driving industry, and the most balanced operation.

The white paper "Co-building the Belt and Road": Major Practice for Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind" emphasizes that, as the flagship product of jointly building the Belt and Road, the China-Europe freight train has effectively improved the level of railway connectivity and multimodal transport development in the Eurasian continent, opened up a new channel for the supply chain of the Eurasian continent, and made important contributions to ensuring the stable operation of the global economy.

The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" is for both China's development and the world's development. Under the framework of jointly building the "Belt and Road", the China-Europe Express (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) has built not only a "big bridge" for Chongqing to promote the construction of inland open highlands and connectivity with the outside world, but also a bridge of opportunity, prosperity and friendship between Chongqing and the countries that jointly build the "Belt and Road". While achieving interconnection in the regions along the route, it has also driven the in-depth development of the Asian and European land economy, tightening the bond of mutual benefit among Asian and European countries.

"The leapfrog development of China-Europe freight trains is an example of the continuous deepening and practical cooperation between China and Germany." Du Chunguo, Consul General of China in Düsseldorf, said at the New Silk Road Logistics Forum that the development of the international logistics industry plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and security of the global supply chain.

According to relevant data, the China-Europe freight train can now reach more than 200 cities in 25 European countries, and the logistics distribution network covers the Eurasian continent.
