On August 27, the Hong Kong Trade Development Bureau announced that the 10th Belt and Road Forum will be held in Hong Kong from September 10 to 11.
Liu Huiping, Vice President of the Hong Kong Trade Development Bureau, said at a press conference that this forum will be themed "Cooperation to seek change, jointly build the future" and will add "key project links" and "focus market" links for the first time, aiming to deepen Hong Kong's key role in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative and create more accurate business opportunities for participants.
According to reports, this forum has attracted more than 90 major officials and business leaders from 18 countries and regions jointly built by the "Belt and Road" to confirm their attendance. They will jointly discuss cooperation opportunities and promote sustainable development around core areas such as financial investment, innovative technology, professional services and infrastructure.
Liu Huiping focused on introducing a major innovation in this forum - "The Belt and Road Key Projects". This session will invite the heads of key government projects for jointly building the "Belt and Road" that will be launched soon to introduce some key government projects to Hong Kong.
In May this year, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Li Jiachao led a trade delegation to Qatar and Kuwait, with the participation of mainland enterprises for the first time. During the visit, Dongchao Science and Technology Development (Shanghai) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Agency (KDIPA) and the Qatar developer (Fikri Group) respectively, and will build a factory in the local area. At present, the company is actively preparing to settle in Hong Kong after its visit to better utilize Hong Kong's international network.
In this regard, Liu Huiping said that the "key project link" allows Hong Kong's professional service agencies to directly connect with government project leaders to discuss bidding opportunities, or form a consortium.
In addition, Liu Huiping pointed out that another highlight of this forum is the newly established "focus market" link. This link will deeply analyze regional business opportunities in specific "Belt and Road" markets, helping participants more conveniently identify potential cooperation opportunities and market trends.
According to data, the Middle East and ASEAN will be the focus of this forum. In addition to the main forum with the theme of "New Opportunities for ASEAN Development Cooperation", the investment project display session will also focus on these two major markets. At the same time, the exhibition area will set up a special "ASEAN Zone" to focus on displaying the latest projects and cooperation opportunities in the region, and further consolidate Hong Kong's position as a bridge connecting the mainland and the international market.
