Zhang Yansheng: The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road is a common undertaking of all economies along the route
Zhang Yansheng, chief economist of China International Economic Exchange Center
China Economic Net, Beijing, November 26th. This afternoon, Zhang Yansheng, chief economist of the China International Economic Exchange Center, said at the China Economic and International Cooperation Annual Conference and the New "Bashan Round" Conference 2016 that the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road is our common cause of all economies along the route. To build this common cause well, we need to pay attention to three aspects. First, we must firmly grasp the solid foundation of developing the real economy, which is the focus of the development of the Maritime Silk Road. The second is to firmly grasp the strategic fulcrum of expanding domestic demand and consumption, that is, the mutual trade, mutual investment, mutual financing and saving capacity of the region driven by local mutual demand on the Maritime Silk Road, which is the basis for the development of the region. Third, firmly grasp the huge business opportunities contained in the "Belt and Road".
At the meeting, regarding globalization and de-globalization, Zhang Yansheng said that globalization and de-globalization have further highlighted the significance and value of building the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road is a shared road. That is, young people have the opportunity to participate, small businesses have the opportunity to participate, and underdeveloped regions and countries have the opportunity to participate. So from this perspective, we need to unite to promote globalization, but we can see that future globalization may be different from past globalization. Traditional globalization is driven by multinational corporations. New globalization may be based on the technology of the new industrial revolution, and can bring welfare to ordinary people based on young people, cross-border e-commerce, and cooperation between small businesses.
In the past 20 years of globalization, Zhang Yansheng believes that three aspects have been ignored. First is innovation, second is unfairness, and third is governance. Therefore, we hope to cooperate in innovation in building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and hope to have more cooperation in green technology and shared technology.
