The regional GDP has increased from 75.2 billion yuan in 2020 to 116.8 billion yuan in 2024, with an average growth rate of 8.1% in the first four years, higher than the national and regional average.

According to reports, Fangchenggang has gradually built a modern port-side industrial system with steel, non-ferrous metals, energy, food and medicine, and new materials as the core. The added value of industrial above-scale has maintained double-digit growth for four consecutive years. Fangchenggang Economic and Technological Development Zone ranked first in the region for nine consecutive years. In 2023, it became the first industrial park in Guangxi's output value exceeding 200 billion yuan, and won the titles of national green industrial parks and the first batch of Guangxi's sea economic development demonstration parks.

Huang Jiang, Secretary of the Fangchenggang Municipal Party Committee, introduced that Fangchenggang City insists on taking scientific and technological innovation as the guide, cultivates and develops new quality productivity according to local conditions, promotes the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, compete for development of emerging industries, and incubates future industries, and accelerates the construction of a modern industrial system with Fangchenggang's characteristics and advantages. In the process of development, the energy consumption intensity of Fangchenggang's modern industrial system has continued to decline. In 2024, the energy consumption of industrial added value of over 10,000 yuan decreased by 7.3% year-on-year. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the cumulative decline rate reached 11.43%.

Huang Jiang introduced that at present, Fangchenggang has 59 berths above 10,000 tons in the city, including 7 berths of 200,000 tons, 4 berths of 150,000 tons, and 5 berths of 100,000 tons, accounting for 45% of the total berths of 10,000 tons, and Beibu Gulf Port. The port throughput is expected to exceed 200 million tons in 2025, an increase of nearly 1 times compared with 2020. The status of an important hub for the seaport in the southwest region is more consolidated.

In terms of reform and opening up, Fangchenggang insists on solving reform problems and empowering openness, and continuously enhances the momentum and vitality of development. The Fangchenggang International Medical Open Pilot Zone has gone through a development process of starting from scratch, opening layout, and forging ahead.
