The 10th Belt and Road Forum opened for two days, with more than 6,000 people attending, including more than 100 delegations and more than 90 representatives of the political and business circles speaking at the forum to discuss development opportunities in many aspects such as commerce, investment, innovation and science and technology, and green development.

In his speech, Chief Executive Li Jiachao said that the forum promotes exchanges between the government, enterprises and people-to-people, and seeks change in cooperation. Over the past decade, more than 45,000 people have participated in the forum, showing more than 2,800 projects, building a common vision through cooperation and connectivity, and practicing the core values ​​of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Li Jiachao elaborated on Hong Kong's advantages and development in economic and trade investment, competitiveness, talent, connectivity, green and sustainable development and legal systems. He pointed out that Hong Kong is an ideal hub for the "Belt and Road". As the only international city that has both China's advantages and the world's advantages, Hong Kong is the preferred cooperation platform, connecting the personnel, trade, commerce, education, culture and value in the region, and connecting Asia and the world. Hong Kong's dual advantages as a super contact person and a super value-added person will inject endless innovation momentum and strategic value into capital projects, and continue to promote the high-quality development of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

Financial Secretary Chan Mo-po said in his speech at the special luncheon that Hong Kong can actively promote more partnerships in green and sustainable development and digital innovation and contribute to promoting regional connectivity. The government is committed to promoting the development of transformational finance, and at the same time, it meets the different needs of emerging economies through innovative financial products such as catastrophe bonds and infrastructure debt securitization.

Secretary for Justice Lam said in his speech at the special group forum that Hong Kong's international civil and commercial law and practice under the common law system have always been recognized by the international business community, and it has many advantages, including a large number of professional legal talents.

Yan Dong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Li Zhen, Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and Xiao Weiming, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission, also delivered speeches at the opening session.

This forum has facilitated about 50 memorandums of government and enterprise cooperation, setting a record high, highlighting Hong Kong's role as a functional platform for the "Belt and Road". The forum has added a key project session of the "Belt and Road" to introduce bidding projects for urban development in Thailand and Saudi Arabia.
