At the summit forum on the 11th, the Hong Kong Airport Authority ("AA") signed a memorandum of understanding with two partners in Central Asia to strengthen air transportation ties within the region and other cooperation in aviation development.

Under the witness of He Lizhi, Commissioner of the "Belt and Road" of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Zhang Li Jiahui, CEO of the AAA, exchanged memorandums signed with senior management of Kazakhstan Chimkent Airport and Uzbekistan Airport Co., Ltd. It is reported that Uzbekistan Airport Co., Ltd. is responsible for managing all 11 international airports and 8 inland airports in Uzbekistan.

In addition to strengthening the air traffic ties at Hong Kong International Airport, the memorandum also focuses on exchanging management experience, promoting excellent operations and improving service levels, cultivating talents through the Hong Kong International Aviation Institute courses, and sustainable development of the aviation industry.

Zhang Li Jiahui said that since 2017, the Hong Kong International Aviation Institute has launched different programs and courses, with more than 380,000 people studying from Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas, of which 530 people came from countries and regions jointly building the "Belt and Road".

The AA said it has been committed to attracting more airlines to operate routes, consolidate Hong Kong International Airport's position as an important gateway to connect mainland China and the world. At present, the aviation network of Hong Kong International Airport covers more than 200 waypoints around the world, and about 140 airlines provide services at Hong Kong International Airport, exceeding the pre-epidemic level.
