Xi'an continues to strengthen regional hub economy

Economic Daily, Xi'an, October 3 (Reporter Zhang Yi) In recent years, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, has taken the construction of a national comprehensive freight hub as a starting point to accelerate the construction of a modern logistics system of land-air linkage and multimodal transport, and uses the coordinated pattern of "land-air dual ports" to promote high-level opening up to a new level.

Up to now, the China-Europe Express (Xi'an) has launched a total of 30,000 trains, exceeding 25% of the national total; in the first half of this year, there were 16,659 trains in China-Europe Express (Asia) trains nationwide, of which Xi'an accounts for about 15%, and core indicators such as operation volume, freight volume, and heavy container rate are firmly at the forefront of the country.

Xi'an focuses on the "hard connectivity" of freight logistics infrastructure, "soft connectivity" of rules and standards, and "live connectivity" of regional coordination mechanisms, and has built 10 comprehensive freight hub projects such as the "Belt and Road" sea-rail transport center, Kazakhstan Xi'an Terminal, and the first railway container center station in the country with 3 bundles and 6 lines. The area of the comprehensive freight hub has been added and renovated and expanded to build more than 500,000 square meters, and the collection and distribution mileage has exceeded 25 kilometers.

Hardware upgrades open up the "logistics artery", while rule innovation activates the "nerve endings". Xi'an pioneered five standards including the "Multimodal Transport Information Sharing Standards" to promote the interconnection of customs and railway data, and shortened the customs declaration time from the past 5 hours to 7 hours to 5 minutes. Relying on the China-Europe Express Chang'an comprehensive service platform, enterprises can enjoy the "one ticket system" full service, with the average annual growth of container road-rail intermodal transport volume by 10.29%, and the average annual growth of land-air intermodal transport volume by 21.05%. With the cooperation of Yinchuan, Qingdao and other cities, Xi'an has also built a new aviation logistics model of "Yinchuan cargo collection, Xi'an transit, and Europe access", allowing the regional supply chain to efficiently connect with the international transportation network.

Ma Shengli, director of the Xi'an Municipal Transportation Bureau, introduced that in the next step, Xi'an will consolidate the hardware supply capacity of infrastructure construction, accelerate the improvement of flexible services such as multimodal transport, continue to strengthen the regional hub economy, and accelerate integration into the unified national market.
