The "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum to be held in Beijing from May 14 to May 15 will include a leaders' roundtable summit and high-level meetings. The high-level meetings will adopt the "1 6" model, that is, a high-level plenary meeting and six parallel theme meetings.

Li Pumin, Secretary-General and Spokesperson of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced at the press conference that the main activities of the forum include the opening ceremony, leaders’ roundtable summit and high-level meeting. President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the forum and chair the leaders’ roundtable summit. The six parallel theme meetings are: policy communication, accelerating infrastructure connectivity, promoting unimpeded trade, promoting financial integration, enhancing people-to-people connectivity and think tank exchanges. Among them, the parallel theme meeting on enhancing people-to-people connectivity will invite representatives of people from countries along the “Belt and Road” to share the changes brought about by the “Belt and Road”.
It is understood that the high-level meeting has received enthusiastic response at home and abroad. More than 1,500 Chinese and foreign guests will attend the meeting, including more than 850 foreign guests, covering more than 130 countries and more than 70 international organizations. Foreign guests include government officials, heads of international and regional organizations, heads of financial institutions, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars, as well as guests from the fields of culture and art, science and technology, health, media and other fields; Chinese representatives mainly come from relevant departments, local governments, financial institutions, key enterprises, social groups and scientific research institutions.
Wang Xiaotao, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that hosting the summit forum is to summarize the past and plan for the future. China looks forward to taking this forum as an opportunity to build a more open and efficient international cooperation platform; to build a closer and stronger partnership network based on the principles of consultation, joint contribution and sharing; and to promote the construction of a more just, reasonable and balanced global governance system guided by the concepts of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation. China will maintain close communication and coordination with all participating parties to ensure that the forum is held smoothly and successfully, promote the forum to achieve more fruitful results, open up a new situation for international cooperation on the "Belt and Road", and promote the construction of the "Belt and Road" to a new level.
