Ministry of Commerce: Timely launch of new policies to stabilize foreign trade -

On October 16, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said at a regular press conference that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will further release policy effectiveness, implement various policies and measures that have been introduced in the field of foreign trade, and increase service guarantees for foreign trade enterprises in finance, employment, facilitation and other aspects. Do a good job in policy publicity and interpretation, and promote direct access to enterprise-related policies. We will further strengthen policy reserves and launch new policies to stabilize foreign trade in a timely manner.

He Yongqian pointed out that in the first three quarters of this year, China's foreign trade moved forward under pressure and maintained a steady and positive trend. First, growth is steady. The import and export of goods in RMB increased by 4% year-on-year, maintaining positive growth for eight consecutive quarters.

Second, there is abundant kinetic energy. The momentum of "upward" and "new" foreign trade has been further consolidated, and exports of high-end equipment, wind power equipment, energy storage products, etc. have maintained double-digit growth. More and more Chinese IP and Chinese brand products are entering the international market.

Third, partners are diverse. The proportion of China’s imports and exports to countries co-building the “Belt and Road” increased to 51.7%. We have implemented zero tariffs on 100% of products from the least developed countries that have diplomatic relations with China. In the first three quarters, China’s imports from the above-mentioned countries increased by 9.7%, significantly higher than the overall growth rate.

Fourth, the subject is active. The number of foreign trade companies with import and export performance reached 700,000, which has exceeded the number for the whole of last year.

He Yongqian said that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will further promote trade and deepen trade cooperation.

In terms of trade promotion, the 138th Canton Fair continued to launch measures to benefit enterprises, reducing and waiving offline booth and online platform fees. Support enterprises to participate in various exhibitions at home and abroad, continue to organize trade promotion activities, and help enterprises carry out supply and procurement docking. The "Foreign Trade Promotion Information" and "Country Trade Guide" are dynamically updated and released to provide enterprises with more overseas market information services.

In terms of deepening trade cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce will promote the negotiation and signing of more high-standard free trade agreements and continue to improve the openness of free trade agreements. We will further increase the proportion of zero-tariff products in goods trade and promote the implementation of zero-tariff measures for 100% of tax items with African countries that have diplomatic relations with Africa. We will continue to leverage the role of open platforms such as the China International Import Expo and actively expand the import of high-quality products.
