In the context of deepening globalization and continuous upgrading of health needs, international medical cooperation has become an important way to improve medical quality, optimize resource allocation, and solve health problems. On November 1, 2025, the "2025 Shanghai International Medical Salon Chongqing Special" hosted by the China Medical Innovation Alliance and Hainan Boao Medical Innovation Research Institute was successfully held in Shanghai. With the theme of "Building a Healthy Future Together and Deepening International Medical Cooperation", this salon established a cross-regional communication platform, bringing together relevant leaders from the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, managers of Chongqing Head Hospital, as well as international medical experts and medical institution managers from five countries including Singapore, Poland, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Currently, international medical cooperation faces multiple challenges such as mechanism construction, service adaptation, and talent circulation. This salon focused on core pain points such as "sustainable cooperation mechanisms", "international patient medical experience" and "disciplinary collaborative development". Through multi-dimensional and multi-level exchanges and discussions, it provided practical references and innovative ideas for solving industry problems. This salon is not only a collision and blending of Chongqing's medical resources and international vision, but also an important opportunity for the international medical community to build consensus and deepen cooperation, injecting strong impetus into promoting the coordinated development of regional medical care.

In his speech for this salon, Yang Bin, Director of the International Cooperation Department of Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, shared Chongqing's practice and vision in international medical services and talent training, pointing out that Chongqing is building an international medical brand based on its local advantages and using the three-driven strategy of "technology service talent" to realize the transformation of medical institutions from "treatment centers" to "health hubs". She said that Chongqing has first-class medical technology and specialty advantages, and 23,000 medical institutions and nearly 300,000 professional medical personnel led by 55 tertiary-level hospitals provide solid support for the medical service network. In the field of technology, Chongqing’s independently developed Haifu Dao focused ultrasound tumor treatment system has served dozens of countries around the world, forming significant advantages in the fields of minimally invasive surgery, cardiovascular intervention, diagnosis and treatment of rare childhood diseases, and oral medicine.

Yang Bin said that Chongqing medical institutions have optimized the "patient-centered" service system and systematically optimized the entire process of international medical services. In terms of communication, many hospitals have set up international medical departments, equipped with multilingual medical team guides and professional translators to ensure barrier-free communication between doctors and patients; in terms of process, they have created the country's first "medical plus cultural tourism" one-stop service platform led by the health administrative department; in terms of payment, they have promoted settlement flexibility and actively connected with international insurance institutions.

In addition, Chongqing has established an open and collaborative communication platform. Led by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, we are striving to create an international medical talent training project. The project will rely on top medical institutions in Chongqing to carry out systematic and practical training courses. Students can participate in various forms of academic interaction such as clinical practice, surgical observation, and scientific research discussions, gain in-depth exposure to cutting-edge medical technology, promote the co-construction and sharing of disciplinary capabilities, and promote the continuous progress and integrated development of medical talents in different regions.

"Chongqing is ready. With its solid medical resources, advanced technical strength, complete service system and open training platform, we sincerely welcome medical colleagues from all over the world, work with you to open up channels for international medical cooperation, share innovative results, build a closer and more dynamic international medical collaboration network, and contribute Chongqing's strength to promoting the development of global medical and health undertakings," Yang Bin said.

International Perspective:

Share cooperation opportunities and deepen cross-regional medical collaboration

This salon invited medical experts and managers from five countries, including Huang Pingren, Director of the International Cooperation Office of SingHealth Group from Singapore; emergency physicians from Thailand's Kebang Hospital ( ), emergency physicians from Sapraya Hospital ( ), and emergency physicians from Bangkok Hospital ( ); Nguyễn Thị Hải Liên, director of the quality control department, and Trương, general planning department manager from the Ho Chi Minh City Medical University Center (HCM) in Vietnam. Nhựt Cường, deputy manager of the general planning department Nguyễn Thị Xuân Đào, Bùi Thị Hồng Loan, Nguyễn Thị Phương Tuyên; deputy director of medical services Indah and neurosurgeon Arief of the Medical Department of PELNI from Indonesia, Ahmad Mokhtar Hospital (Ahmad Mokhtar Hospital) ), Dr. Meiza, Bahri; and Jorg from Zagrebiowski Clinical Hospital in Poland, who brought valuable experience in medical services in the medical system of different countries.

Huang Pingren, director of the International Cooperation Office of SingHealth, said that Singapore and Chongqing have similar international visions in medical development, and the core of international medical cooperation lies in precise docking needs. He pointed out that cross-border patient mobility involves multiple considerations such as technological accessibility, economic factors and cultural differences. Cultural factors such as language barriers and dietary adaptation are often important challenges for international patients to seek medical treatment. For example, patients from the Middle East need to adapt to the local environment when they come for treatment. Regarding the construction of a sustainable cooperation mechanism, Huang Pingren emphasized that closed-loop management of doctor-patient docking is crucial. When receiving overseas patients, it is necessary to establish close cooperation with doctors from the referring countries to ensure that patients can receive follow-up from local doctors after treatment. This kind of mutual trust and cooperation is the basis for long-term collaboration. He said that SingHealth looks forward to further deepening exchanges with Chongqing's medical community, sharing medical resources and technical experience, and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
